I can't really explain why, but all 3 of the top undefeated teams stayed put, with Clemson holding on to #1 and Notre Dame and Alabama right behind. Alabama beat the #8 team, LSU, which I would have thought would vault their strength of schedule well above the others, but they still sit at #3. UCF is sneaking up my rankings as well, up to #9.
Missouri inexplicably beat the #11-ranked team, Florida, on the road, although I had them down at #18. Still, it was quite the unexpected victory, and might wind up being pretty important in getting them to bowl eligibility. They jumped from #71 up to #50, forcing me yet again to ponder what might have been if they won the games they should have, or at least pulled off a win in some close ones.
Funny story about UTEP: their game was featured in ESPN's Streak game, which I like to play. Oftentimes there are point spreads, but this was a straight pick, because at 0-8, they were facing 1-8 Rice. I picked Rice, because I figure #126 is better than #129, especially at home. I didn't get to watch that game, but I got a notification my pick had lost, and I thought, hey good for UTEP, I'll have something positive about them to write on Sunday. Then 2 minutes later I got a notification that the matchup had been rescored, and UTEP actually lost. At the moment it seemed pretty funny, that their little bit of hope had been pulled back away. But, then there was another notification that they had indeed won, so we were back to some positivity. Good job, UTEP. But you're still #129.
