In the top row we have Jim Morrison, which is probably not the deceased singer, but you never really know for sure. Fun Fact: an anagram of Jim Morrison is Mr. Mojo Risin, which the singer sometimes used as a pseudonym and was in the lyrics of L.A. Woman. There's also Mr. One Flap Down himself, Jeffrey Leonard, who I guess went by Jeff at that time.

I'm surprised I haven't had any Tom Brunansky cards on my blog yet. He was a Cardinal from mid-1988 to mid-1990, and was involved in 2 somewhat big trades. His arrival was in exchange for sending Tom Herr to the Twins, and he left when the Cardinals acquired Lee Smith from the Red Sox.

I'm Not Superstitious

If I was, I wouldn't be writing this trade post. At the start of the day, the Pirates were a mere 0.5 games behind the Cardinals for the NL Central, and, more importantly, the right not to play in the wildcard sudden-death play-in.

Of course, a little friendly competition is no problem for fans of opposing teams with baseball cards on the brain. I made a small trade with Zistle user BucCollector, who, as his name would suggest, collects Pirates. I sent a few cards from the late 90s he needed, and got this little old '84 Fleer in return.

Even though that picture was taken in 1983 or so, it still reminds me of what Busch Stadium looked like in the early 90s when I started watching baseball. The bright green turf, almost no dirt on the infield, the dark green outfield with team logos all around. All of those things went away with a significant remodel in the mid to late 90s, and subsequently the new Busch Stadium in 2006

So, not only did I trade with a Pirate fan, but in return I received a player best known as a Pirate.

All-Star Winnings, Part 1

Way back in July 2012, I won a contest at Cards On Cards. The premise was to pick the Cardinals player who would have the biggest impact on the game, determined Sabermetrically. I picked the right player, and got a pile of Cardinals for my trouble. They've been sitting in that same pile, haunting me, for quite some time, so now is the time to show them to you.

I was unaware of these Topps Stickers, but now I really wish I had known about them. Look at those sweet powder blues. There are plenty of Cardinals in the set, too, because there appears to be a World Series subset.

1987 Fleer #297 Ricky Horton

Wrapping up the older cards is current Cardinal broadcaster Ricky Horton, who goes by Rick these days. He's been doing that regularly for 10 years now, but he still feels new to me. Anyone but Jack Buck, Joe Buck, Al Hrabosky, and Mike Shannon probably always will.

Here are 3 of the 17 Cardinals I didn't have from 1984 Fleer. I don't really know Jamie Quirk, and I was only somewhat familiar with the name David Green, but I definitely know the gentleman on the right.

Another Ozzie! The cool thing about Hall Of Famers from the overproduction era is that there are lots of cards available.

I sent off several of my 1993 Hostess duplicates, and got this one in return, leaving me 7 left to go in the set.

1990 Donruss

In part I, I mentioned Bo and I worked out this trade while madding was sending me a prize. So here's yet another part of this trade that got duplicated by madding. Maybe I can put together 2 full 1990 Donruss sets, though I have no idea why I'd do such a thing. I bet I would be the only guy ever to do so if I did.

Since the 1990 Donruss isn't as exciting as it originally was, the best part of this trade is left for the 3rd and final post of this trade.
