Zistle Trade #29, Part I
Will I post all my Zistle trades before they shut down? Maybe!
This trade had a bunch of Cardinals, along with the Ripken All-Star card, one of the very few from 1990 Donruss I didn't have yet. I also knocked another Stottlemyre off my list, Mel, Jr., son of Mel and brother of Todd. And there were just enough players in this trade I had to split this one into two posts.

1989 Bowman is like that kid in middle school that hit a growth spurt and became awkwardly tall. Consequently, they don't quite fit into my normal card boxes, which frustrates me as an organizer. But I still collect them, because they were the first Bowman set after a long hiatus for the brand.
Jerry Reuss had a ridiculously long career, the first three seaosns with St. Louis.
Jamie Quirk played for the Cardinals in just one of his 18 seasons, 1983.
This is apparently the first Joel Youngblood card I've posted. He played for the Cardinals during the first part of the 1977 season, for 25 games, the least of the 5 teams he played for.
Tom Herr is a member of the 1982 World Series team whose Autograph I don't have yet. I really need to track him down at a show some time.
Garry Templeton was a Cardinal for several years before being traded to San Diego for Ozzie Smith. Both were shortstops, and both wore jersey #1 before and after the trade.
As I've mentioned many times before, I'm a semi-distant cousin of Mel Stottlemyre and his two kids, Todd and Mel Jr. I never thought to look for a card featuring all three of them before, so I had no idea this existed, and now it's a pretty cool addition to my collection.
36 of these cards came out of packs I just opened, which means 3 cards have gum stains on the back. I'm never sure what to do with cards like that. I definitely don't want to accidentally send them to anyone in a negotiated trade, where they're expecting a specific card in a decent condition, so I don't want to just throw them into my collection. Yet I have no real way to mark cards in my collection that are less than stellar condition. I'll probably just put them in with the rest of the cards and hope it never comes up.
The packs were part of a lot where they worked out to be a penny per card, but that's if I count the packs as only having 12 cards. In fact, those reprint contest cards were a bonus insert in each pack, and look enough like cards rather than filler to me, so all 61 were a total of 58 cents.

Zistle Trade #16 Part I
My Zistle trading binge continues, and this time I got enough Cardinals that I had to split into two posts just to tag them all. In return, I sent off some 2011 Topps Lineage cards, several of which were triples and quadruples, because I bought several discounted packs and blasters of that set.
Ah 1989 Bowman, the cards that don't quite fit in standard sleeves and boxes, and often get bent up when mailed in a stack of standard cards. Luckily with 5 of them they stayed pretty safe in the envelope. I didn't have very many of these, so I've still got 12 Cardinals on my want list.
I still need 7 more Fleer cards, and 17 more Topps cards (including some Tony La Russa and a Derek Lilliquist) to complete my current Cardinals wantlists for these two sets. If I ever get ridiculously flush with free time, a PC I would start would be guys wearing #37, so that Scott Terry card has great things ahead of it in my theoretical future.

Tis The Season Winnings, Part III
Sometimes, I procrastinate posting and sorting some cards. Normally I don't pay too much attention to how long a particular item has been sitting on my desk, but given that this one was the Tis the Season contest from 2013, I've probably had it in my possession for a little over a year now. But, even with the long delay, I still want to throw Jeff at 2 by 3 Heroes some referral traffic while I show off my prize.
Part I II
In addition to some Allen and Ginter cards, the prize included some Cardinals, as well as some Red Sox and Yankees. Today I've got some of those to show.
This Vince Coleman card is one I needed, so that's nice to knock off my massive wantlist. Just for fun, I found all three posts of my previous copies of the Ozzie Smith card, since I get a lot of random piles of Cardinals, much like this prize. I really like that set, though, so at the very least, perhaps it will help me eventually trade to complete the 1990 Kmart set.

eBay Wins #139
Today it's 1989 Bowman, the junk wax cards that always seems to have bent tops or bottoms due to the slightly elongated size compared to 99+% of other cards. These actually weren't bad, despite being shipped with other regular sized cards.
Since 1989 is still prior to my baseball-watching days, I did have to flip these cards over to the back to verify that I read the signatures correctly. I'd recognize Joe Magrane anywhere, and I would even have a decent chance at spotting Rob Dibble, but I don't think I could pick Dennis Rasmussen out of a lineup.

Spring Training Giveaway, part 2
[Part 1]
I won another contest at Number 5 Type Collection. After ranking the 5 teams I wanted from what he had to offer, I tied another reader and so wound up with half the Tigers and Red Sox.
All 4 of these Fleer Stickers have Hall of Famers on them. That's pretty awesome.
It's kind of crazy that Donruss used the same Diamond King design in 1982 and 1983. I never knew that before just now.
It took me awhile to track down what set this one was from. The confusion came in that the back just says 1986 Sports Design Products, but there was a league-wide set that year by that name as well.
This card doesn't fit in a regular sleeve. Between these and Topps Big, I need to find some more accommodating supplies.
I'd never seen these Denny's cards before, I must have started collecting after they came out that year. I have several from later years.
