NCAA Football Power Rankings, Week 6

The real polls weren't shaken up all that much this week, but in the Wilson Rankings, #1 Northwestern lost and dropped to #9. Somewhat curiously the team that beat them, Michigan, is only #10, despite identical records. Florida is the new #1, up from #2 with a win over Missouri.

Speaking of my adopted home team, Missouri, they dropped from #28 to #42, and are now in the territory where we're just hoping to be bowl eligible.

Revisiting my season-long what-if, if LSU had won their opener against McNeese State instead of it being canceled, they'd rise from #13 to #2, and #2-#12 would all fall one spot. This week, the only other change in the whole 128 team ranking would be that UCLA would tie Oklahoma for #31, instead of being #32. That's fairly stable, because as LSU wins more, their "missing" win is affecting their opponents much less. Of course, it's affecting LSU by 11 whole positions.

  1. Had that game not been cancelled, it would be especially interesting this weekend as LSU is playing Florida. Would have been #1 vs #2.
