NCAA Football Power Rankings, Week 15

With a grand total of 1 game between FBS eligible teams this week, the rankings didn't change much at the top. However, they changed more interestingly in the middle that I would have expected. I won't go through the mathematical details of each scenario, since the FCS and Division II and Division III semifinals play into some of them as well. Lots of position swapping happened, presumably from teams who played just 1 of Army or Navy, or who played a team who only played Army or Navy, or who played a team who played a team, etc.

First, the obvious big movers. Navy went from #59 to #44 with the win, and Army went from #111 to...#111? At 2-9 they were nestled between 2 2-10 teams last week, so it's not entirely surprising they didn't move much, also considering there isn't much further to go down in the top 120 than #111.

Penn State jumped from #37 to #36, ahead of Louisiana Tech

Everyone from #44 to #58 dropped due to Navy's ascendance, except East Carolina swapped positions with Louisiana-Lafayette to stay at #51.

Rice, at #77, jumped to a tie for #76 with Utah.

Air Force gained two spots to #78, passing Tennessee and Wake Forest

Auburn gained on Maryland to take #95.

South Florida and Western Michigan were tied at #98, which Western Michigan now holds alone.

New Mexico passed Kentucky to #103.

Hawaii is now #108 over Eastern Michigan.

Next week, Division II and III finish up, and the FCS will have its semifinals, and the FBS Bowls start Saturday.
