I started these in week 3 last year, but just for completeness, I figured I'd start in week 1 this year. 70 teams are tied at #1! It's silly at this point, because every winning team beat a team with the same strength, an 0-1 team that lost to a 1-0 team, who beat a 0-1 team, ad infinitum. 43 teams are tied at #71, and therefore 7 FBS teams haven't played yet. Hopefully that's accurate. There are only 43 0-1 teams to the 70 1-0 teams, because of course some teams decide to play lower division teams in week 1, and generally they win.

I think you put Virginia Tech in the last #1 spot just for me. Looking forward to seeing how the rankings play out this season.
ReplyDeleteNow you made me have to go check my code and see why exactly that happened. It's the simplest answer, I forgot they appeared last in my file among winners since they played the last game of week 1, on Monday, so the sort didn't change that ordering. If I was going to monkey with them, I'd have at least put Mizzou on top, as my local-est team. :)
DeleteIt's nice to see Iowa State at #1 for awhile...
