North Dakota State, who won the last 5 FCS titles, lost in one of the semifinals. The remaining teams, James Madison and Youngstown State, last won in 2004 and 1997, respectively. Division II was won by Northwest Missouri State, and Division III was won by Mary Hardin-Baylor.
