Ottawa scored 4 goals in the first period, defeating Pittsburgh 5-1, and making their way into the position of Eastern Conference favorite for the first time during these playoffs. I can't tell you how many times during the past two months I've double checked that their strength number should indeed be below .500, but it's correct. They allowed 214 goals this year, while only scoring 212, putting them just a little under .500 when the formula is applied.
