San Jose isn't out of it yet, but a 2-0 deficit puts them down to about a 1 in 6 chance of winning their first Stanley Cup. They took Pittsburgh to overtime last night, but gave up the winning goal just a few minutes in. I sometimes feel like overtimes shouldn't be sudden death, because a lucky bounce can change the outcome of a game. On the other hand, if 5, 10, or 20 minutes were mandated to be played, it's possible that there would be another goal and a tie at the end of overtime, necessitating yet another extra period, and resulting in increasingly sloppy play as the players tire out. So maybe the solution is somewhere in the middle, but I'm not sure what that looks like.
